"If you want different results, don't do the same things"

Albert Einstein

At Wool Lab, our mission is clear:

To transform and ensure the continuity of livestock and agricultural businesses in rural areas by promoting innovation, technology, and training. We aim to guarantee the long-term viability and profitability of rural operations, supporting farmers every step of the way.

Our Pillars

  • Data
  • Technology
  • Networking
  • Training (farmer to farmer)

These pillars form the core of all our actions, enabling farmers to optimize their decisions by collecting, analyzing, and applying accurate data, supported by the most advanced technological tools.

Our Mission

  • Sustainability: Helping producers implement sustainable practices and technologies that care for the environment.
  • Technological innovation: Promoting the use of advanced digital tools and data analysis to improve productivity and efficiency in farming operations.
  • Continuous training: Through professional training and knowledge exchange between farmers and experts, we ensure that producers stay updated on the latest trends.

We work to create a prosperous rural future through innovation and the efficient use of resources.

Key Reflections on the Livestock Sector

Over the years, after working closely with farmers and listening to their concerns, we have identified five key areas that are essential for success and sustainability in farming operations:

  1. Lamb Health: It’s common to hear: “my lambs never die”, but the reality is that respiratory problems or infections often go unnoticed. The lack of data and accurate diagnostics often leads to losses that could be avoided with better health management.
  2. Male Reproduction: Not all males are suitable for reproduction, although many farmers assume they are. Without testing for sperm quality and health, it’s difficult to identify which males truly contribute to genetic improvement. Careful analysis prevents fertility issues that often go unnoticed and directly impact profitability.
  3. Female Reproduction and Health: Empty ewes or abortions are issues that go unrecognized or unaddressed due to the lack of reproductive tracking. Data management allows for the quick identification of reproductive problems, optimizing genetics and ensuring continuous production.
  4. Wool Quality: Many producers believe their wool is of excellent quality simply because they have Merino sheep, but they are unaware of international standards. Analyzing the real quality of wool is crucial for positioning the product in the global market and maximizing its commercial value.
  5. Genetic and Financial Planning: One of the biggest mistakes in farm management is failing to plan long-term, both in terms of genetics and finances. Farmers who manage their operations with only short-term goals often lack a solid strategy. Financial and genetic data should be seen as a productive asset that enables better planning for flock improvement and long-term economic viability.

Our Vision and Approach

We adapt our proposals to the reality of each operation, offering a “tailored solution” for each producer.

We provide solutions based on innovation, genetics, and sustainability, ensuring constant improvement in every production process.

We offer specialized consulting that integrates the most advanced technology and data analysis to optimize results.

Our goal is to ensure that every producer is able to make informed decisions, based on concrete data that improves both the quality of the animals and the financial profitability.

Specialists and Strategic Collaborations

We have a multidisciplinary team and key partnerships that allow us to meet the growing demand for training, technical advice, and genetic improvement in sheep, goats, and cattle. Under the technical direction of Beatriz López—agricultural engineer, PhD in genetics, and collaborator of the AGR 218 research group at the University of Córdoba—Wool Lab works to bring innovation and science to the field in an accessible way, adapted to the real needs of livestock farmers.

Our goal: to offer sustainable, efficient, and economically viable solutions.

Featured Project: First Australian Merino Nucleus in Spain

Among its most notable projects, Wool Lab spearheaded the creation of the first Australian Merino nucleus in Spain, established in the La Serena region (Extremadura). This family run initiative at the La Fuente de los Romeros farm, promoted together with the family and directed by Argimiro Rodríguez, represents a milestone in the sector.

Our Approach to Genetics

In environments where records are scarce, we apply a fundamental idea: genetics is not about choosing the most eye catching animal, but about using data to quickly identify those that generate losses. With this philosophy, Wool Lab promotes a modern, profitable, knowledge based livestock sector, supported by continuous innovation and collaboration with top level specialists.

DataWoo Alliance

At Wool Lab, we have also created the DataWoo Alliance, an exclusive community of producers who share a vision based on innovation and the use of data. In this club, we foster collaboration among farmers who seek to improve their operations through technology and detailed analysis.

Benefits of joining DataWoo Alliance:

Access to workshops and field sessions with sector experts.

We provide solutions based on innovation, genetics, and sustainability, ensuring constant improvement in every production process.

Access to technological tools and solutions based on precise data that enable smarter, more sustainable decision-making.
